“Life of an Object” Lecture with the Cummer Art Museum
Feb 19 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens Director Hope McMath for a “Life of An Object” presentation as she discusses a particular piece of artwork at the Museum where she traces its origins, how it came to the Cummer Museum and how it impacts their Permanent Collection. Hope McMath, Executive Director of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, is creating a brand new presentation on “The Life of an Object”, special for Nocatee residents. During a “Life of an Object” talk, Hope traces the origins of a painting, sculpture or other work from the Museum’s Permanent Collection, from its creation by the artist, noting the historical relevance of the artist and the work, and traces its path through time until arriving at the Cummer Museum. Once the work is at the Museum, the relevance and impact continues. Hope will share how the work is used in the Collection today, and how it interweaves and influences other works in the Gallery or space where it lives, the programming we offer, and the audiences it touches. Don’t miss this opportunity to join the journey of a work of art through time, to its current home in our community. You will be fascinated and intrigued by “The Life of an Object! This special event starts at 6:00 pm for a short reception before the exhibition begins at 6:30pm. Beer, wine, and select cocktails will be available for purchase at the bar. RSVP to fun@nocatee.com.
